A total of 110 people had their heads shaved to raise a total of $225,000 on the 27th of May in Saint-Bruno, Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The event is the main source of funding for the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation.
Each year, the organization gives some thirty teenagers an opportunity to benefit from a wilderness therapy adventure. In fact, three teenagers from the last expedition in Yukon were present.
The seventh edition of the Shave-O-Thon beat the previous record of $152,000 raised. Full merit goes to the shaved who took it upon themselves to campaign individually to raise money through donations from friends, family and colleagues over the past three months.
With some 3000 people attending the event, which was livened up by popular radio show hosts, eight waves of people took their turns in the barber’s chair over three hours.
Some notable moments: the mayor of Saint-Bruno, the town where the event took place, had his mustache shaved for some 500 dollars. The radio hosts themselves raised over $25,000!
